Venus of Hohle Fels Replica – Paleolithic Figurine 1:1

This highly detailed Venus of Hohle Fels Replica reproduces one of the most remarkable surviving examples of Upper Paleolithic figurative art.

The original figurine was discovered in 2008 in Hohle Fels Cave, near Schelklingen in the Swabian Jura of southern Germany. Carved from mammoth ivory and associated with the Aurignacian period, it dates to approximately 40,000 years ago and is considered one of the earliest known representations of the human female form.

Despite its small size, the figurine has a powerful and immediately recognizable morphology. Its exaggerated breasts, broad torso and pronounced genital area contrast with the absence of a conventional head, which is replaced by a perforated projection interpreted as a suspension loop. Numerous incised lines and carved details across the surface further define its distinctive appearance.

Produced at 1:1 scale, our reproduction measures 6 cm in height, closely corresponding to the dimensions of the archaeological original.

Cast in polyurethane resin, each replica is individually hand-patinated and hand-finished in our workshop. Layers of aged ivory, earthy and mineral tones are applied by hand to emphasize the carved volumes, incisions and irregular surface of the figurine while preserving its archaeological character.

Because every patina is created individually, subtle variations in tone, markings and surface finish may occur, giving each piece its own character.

Its historical significance and compact scale make the Venus of Hohle Fels particularly suitable for collections focused on prehistoric art, Paleolithic archaeology, human evolution and material culture, as well as for museums, universities, teaching collections, specialist collectors and cabinets of curiosities.
